So I'm a new member looking for friends with similar interests, which is how I wound up here. Iron & Wine has been my favorite band since 2005. I've seen him three times live and met him twice.
I just went to the Newport Folk Festival in Newport, RI last weekend. Iron & Wine was the main attraction for me, but performances from the Avett Brothers, Fleet Foxes, Decemberists, Deer Tick, and Gillian Welch were also great. Also, I mean, Pete Seeger was pretty epic considering that he's 90 years old and still rocking.
Anyway. The point of this post was to point out to those who might not already know that NPR has a downloadable archival copy of Sam Beam's entire performance at the Folk Festival up on their site.
My personal favorites were Such Great Heights, Trapeze Swinger, Upward Over the Mountain, and Glad Mouth River (a new one). The entire set though is worth a listen.
And if you poke around, I'm pretty sure all the acts from the festival are available for download (if not just highlights from the set).
The only bummer is the file's not split into tracks, but I'm sure it can be done.
